Lillian Layne Hanmer, age 91, of Keysville, Virginia, died on Friday, October 26, 2012. She was the daughter of Paul and Estelle Layne; born in Cullen, VA on August 8, 1921. Lill was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Hanmer; her son, James H. Hanmer, Jr.; and her sister, Edythe Lenchert. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; Joan and Bill Schmidt of Rogers, AR, Peggy and Steve Richards of Maysville, KY; and daughter-in-law, Betsy Hanmer of Keysville, VA. Lill is also survived by two grandchildren, Drew H. Gibson and Kate L. Price; and a sister, Anne Dowdy.

She was an active member of the Keysville United Methodist Church and many civic organizations. Lill enjoyed golf, dancing, tennis, bridge, traveling and was an avid Virginia Tech fan.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2012, in the Keysville United Methodist Church, with interment to follow in Ash Camp Memorial Cemetery, Keysville, VA. The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m., on Monday, October 29, 2012. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Keysville United Methodist Church or the Charlotte County Rescue Squad.
