Mary Lucile Glasscock Cristo, age 90, a resident of The Woodland, Farmville Va., formerly of Lunenburg County died September 28, 2013.
She was born on July 21, 1923 to the late Rommie Durwood and Martha Currin Glasscock. She was preceded in death by Anthony Brian Cristo; son, Martha Jane Cristo; daughter, William Edward Glasscock; brother, and great grandchildren Isaac David and Rachel Catherine Schmidt.
Lucile is survived by a son, Rob and his wife Donna of Clarksville, a brother, Rommie Durwood Glasscock Jr. of Victoria, two grandchildren, Tyler Cristo Ashley of Meherrin and Farrah Schmidt David of Rice, five great grandchildren, Hannah-Grey, Meredith, McKenna, and Lily Kate Schmidt, Tyler Lane Cristo and numerous nieces and nephews.
She obtained her Bachelor and Master Degrees from Longwood University while teaching at Keysville and Eureka Elementary School. Lucile loved all children and spent her entire teaching career with Charlotte County Public Schools. She also loved spending time with her family, cooking, playing bridge, collecting everything, decorating her farm home, and entertaining. She was also a cancer survivor.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at The Woodland for taking good care of her for the last 12 years in her courageous but losing battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Cool Springs Christian Church on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 11:00 A. M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charlotte County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 330, Keysville, VA. 23947.
