Richard Darrell Tharpe, age 51, of Drakes Branch, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2013. He is survived by his sons, Nick Tharpe and T. J. Tharpe; his parents, Richard “Pete” and Gracie Tharpe; a sister, Gracie Newcomb; a special friend, Linda Bowman; and his riding buddies. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Edwards.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013, in Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, Virginia. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Barksdale Cancer Foundation. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
